Conserving Herefordshire’s Ice Age Ponds

Thank you to the Lottery Players whose support through the Heritage Fund made this project possible.

25,000 years ago the western parts of Herefordshire were covered in a thick ice sheet extending from Wales.

From around 22,000 years the ice began to melt, leaving behind a distinctive landscape, which included hundreds of shallow ponds.

The Project has set about discovering these ponds and the habitat they provide for aquatic plants & animals.

Explore the outcomes of the Project. Walks, Cycle Tours, Car Tours and IceAgePonds app.
